What's the story, if I decide to kip there for a night, am I likely to be ejected my resident members of the Creag Dhu MC?

Better ask Parafinn or Norrie..!!!

In reply to colski:

I'd expect much the same as if you decided to kip in any other club hut without an invitation.

There was a thread on this about a year ago with some words from the President.

Dear colski

I am writing this reply in the capacity as a hill-goer, if you want an answer from the Club, you can contact them through the MCoS.

I have found when using other Club huts it is useful to ask permission to use them, there are exceptions to this and Jacksonville would not be one of them.

If one uses a Club hut (not a MBA bothy) or person’s house without permission, one will have to live with the consequences.

If you do use Jacksonville, could you e-mail your address, so Club members could use your house while you are away?

Do enjoy yourself in the hills.

Norrie

Thanks for the advice Norrie. I have ventured inside the 'ville several times for a rest/brew/shelter but never kipped there, and I have passed it countless times and never ever seen another soul inside it.

Was just curious as to what might the 'consequences' be if I happened to turn up in the 'Coe late one night and decide to doss in those hallowed walls of legend.

Would I be:
a: kicked to within an inch of my life
b: be welcomed with open arms as a fellow hill-goer
c: be asked for my membership card
d: be totally ignored by a sulky old traditionalist mumbling about tweed vs goretex

Hope to see you in the hills sometime,
Colski

Dear Colski,
I have been around long enough to recognise a troll, when I see one. (should that be trawl?)
Perhaps you should try your luck in the Ville. Perhaps your preconceptions will get the better of you. You may as a result of toiling with your inner demons; have a very uncomfortable night's stay.

I also would appreciate you posting your home address on here so that whilst you are away, my friends and I may avail ourselves of your home comforts.

Kind regards
Davie
ps Can you be sure to leave some sugar and milk in your cupboards, please?. I cannot abide a cup of tea without them. thank you

In reply to Davie Parafinn:

Cheers for the reply Mr Parafinn. I've decided I'm going to chance my arm and doss there. As requested here is my current address:

CIC hut,
Allt a' Mhuillinn,
Nr Fort William,
Scotchland.

You'll find the milk and sugar behind the door,
Colski.

would like to see you telling Stevie Docherty "where 2 get off".

In reply to colski:

If I arrived late at night I would ask if it was possible to stay, if nobody replied I would asume that either they were aquiescing or there was nobody else in to ask.

Mke sure you have the makings of a brew ready for any other latecomers and offer it to them, they may be members who in other circunstances would kick you out, but seeing as you are hospitable they may let you stay.

When I have visited I have always tried to make sure it is tidied up before settling in, unfortunately some people visit midweek when no members are around from time to time and leave it a sh*thole.

Norrie, if I am using your howff for a trip of course you can use my house in exchange, don't forget to feed the cat and put the rubbish out.

OP Davie04 Oct 2003

In reply to colski:
thank you for your address as CIC hut.
One small problem...under which boulder did you leave the key?
BTW, full fat milk and demarara sugar, please.

Davie
ps
The Ville is not as some have declared an "open doss." It's a local hut for local climbers only, we will be having no trouble round here. Unless next summer, you don't mind us coming & camping in your front garden.

Sorry Pattie Boy, the only bit I agree with is about the litter.

Davie

ps It is perhaps not prudent to try and use the over-used and inaccurate rejoinder...
"Davey Gardner said it was okay to stay"
