Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s northernmost neighborhood, is one of our favs for many reasons. For starters: it’s full of great food, and everyone knows the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach! But beyond that it’s also a super creative neighborhood home to eclectic shops and tons of unique places to hang.

Once you have that in hand you can check out how they roast, test, cup, and package all of their coffee through the sliding barn doors in the back.

4. Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop

One word: donuts.And yes, contrary to what your parents tell you, we consider donuts a healthy and nutritious breakfast and a great way to start your day! Honestly we don’t think this legendary donut shop even needs an introduction–whether you want cake donuts, yeast donuts, donut holes, or even a pastry this is the spot (and they’re super affordable). Plus their bagels are pretty solid too!

5. Frankel’s

You have a big appetite? You want a pastrami breakfast sandwich that’s bigger than your head? Then you must head to Frankel’s. This Jewish deli specializes in bagels with smoked fish, classic sandwiches, and brisket. But what we really have our eye on is the pastrami, egg, and cheese served on their signature challah roll. We’re drooling at the thought.

Bernie’s is a popular restaurant with a cozy casual vibe serving hearty American comfort food and unfussy drinks on red-checkered tablecloths. Since opening in the Spring of 2018 they’ve been serving a familiar menu consisting of dishes like mozzarella sticks, crispy chicken piccata, and baby back ribs, alongside wine, beer, and, our fav, martinis.

This airy Mexican eatery serves wood-fired dishes plus an ample amount of tequila and mezcal co*cktails on one of our absolute favorite outdoor patios in NYC. Whether you want tacos, tostadas, guac, or more, we suggest you take a trip here–especially if the weather is warm!

Karczma has been serving authentic polish cuisine for the past 15 years in a rustic farmhouse feeling space. Whether you want to sit by the bar, listen to polish music, demolish a plate of pierogis, or check out the waitresses traditional dresses, Karczma is the place to go and makes all its guests feel like one big family.

Beyond being absolutely stunning (it’s housed in a stunning industrial-style space), this Japanese restaurant serves traditional and contemporary recipes for both dinner and brunch. Our advice: order some sake–it’s not unusual for someone to get up on the bar and ask everyone to toast while saying “Kanpai.”

This super cute Parisian-style French café serves bistro fare and made-to-order crêpes that are to die for. They’re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with their very popular weekend brunch, so you have many chances to check them out.

Mads Refslund, chef and co-founder of the “World’s Best Restaurant,” recently opened ILIS, a wood-fired kitchen and restaurant offering New Yorkers a pretty unique dining experience. The ingredient-forward dishes are served raw/chilled (incorporating the “is”) or cooked over a large open fire (bringing in the “ild” aspect) in a 4,500-square-foot former rubber factory warehouse. Breeze serves Sichuan cuisine in a cozy traditional Chinese teahouse-inspired space, and we cannot rave about it enough. Their menu is divided into four sections–cold appetizers, dim sum, entrees, and rice dishes–and the portions are perfect for sharing (so definitely show up with a few hungry friends because you’re going to want to try itall!)Our suggestions: Sichuan Mungbean Cold Noodle (some of our favorite noodles we’ve ever had), Pickled Woodear Mushrooms, Wonton in Chili Sauce, and Whole Fish with Spicy Bean.

The space, opened by Roberta’s alums, allows guests to sit at the baby pink terrazzo bar while sipping on a dozen wines by the glass and snacking on selection of bar snacks. This charming new wine bar and restaurant in Greenpoint is serving authentic Turkish Aegean dishes and an exclusive selection of natural wines in a stunning vintage-inspired space. You can’t go wrong with any of their wines (and the knowledgable staff can help you choose the perfect pours) and their Sea Bass Crudo and Cashew Labneh are to die for. Even more–they’re nestled on a residential, tree-lined street and have an adorable outdoor patio to soak in the sunshine.

Twins Lounge is a two-floor spot that combines pool playing with disco vibes. Started in 2011, the Greenpoint Film Festival aims to give a voice to the voiceless in the filmmaking industry while also expanding the local film network in North Brooklyn. They had to shift their screenings to a drive-in model during the pandemic, but they’ve since locked in a venue to provide drive-in, bike-in, and walk-in screenings!
