Water-filled quarries can be very deep, often 50 ft (15 m) or more, and surprisingly cold, so swimming in quarry lakes is generally not recommended. Unexpectedly cold water can cause a swimmer's muscles to suddenly weaken; it can also cause shock, cold water shock and even hypothermia.
To save all your playable characters, two other non-playable characters, excluding Kaylee Hackett, will have to die. Chris Hackett will have to die for Ryan and Laura to survive, and Silas will have to die for the same reasons.
The only way to make sure that both Ryan and Laura survive the final encounter is to shoot and kill Silas in his lair. If you don't, Silas will kill Ryan, Laura, or both depending on who has werewolf blood smeared on their face.
Players don't need to worry about what path to take until they reach chapter four.
