Occasionally you may run across recipes online that call for seasoning salt – sometimes Lawry’s Seasoning Salt specifically.

If seasoned salt is something you don’t usually have on hand, you want to control the ingredients of your spice mix, or if you want to save a little money by making your own from spices already in your kitchen, we are here to tell you how to make your own seasoning salt with this Lawry’s copycat recipe.

I like that it only makes a small amount so that if it isn’t something you use regularly you don’t have to buy a whole bottle of something that will just sit on the shelf and go stale.

If you plan to be using the seasoning salt regularly, you can multiply the recipe by 4, 8 or however much you think you will use!

For anyone with health issues (or just wanting to make better health choices), by making your own seasoning salt you can adapt the recipe to your health requirements. You can reduce the amount of salt in the mixture or you can use a salt substitute.

You also won’t be adding the chemical that helps to prevent caking. (So keep in mind if you live in a very humid climate you might want to add some grains of uncooked rice to your shaker to prevent clumping.

This seasoning is used in the traditional Chex Mix recipe and is also good sprinkled on chicken or other meat, added to vegetables, etc.

It can add an extra dash of flavor to casseroles and even to egg dishes in the morning. One of my favorites is to make “smashed” potatoes in the oven with homemade Lawry’s seasoning salt on top!

This seasoned salt recipe is also delicious sprinkled on corn on the cob. With the combination of melted butter and the seasoned salt it is TOP NOTCH!

If you are making multiple spice mixtures of your own (or if you buy spices in bulk) these glass spice bottles have a shaker top built in.

They’re perfect for storing spices and they’re inexpensive too! They also make a great gift idea for anyone who likes to cook OR for those learning to cook because seasoning salt makes anything taste better with no effort required!

For a super easy way to fill your spice bottles, use a Silicone Mini Spice Funnel. These have a no-clog large bottom opening for fast pouring.

I have tried in the past to just pour spices directly into the bottles or to use a piece of paper I have folded into a cone shape and it can be a big pain in the neck.

The funnels make it a lot easier and they can be repurposed for other things in the kitchen like combining other spices or condiments.
