How to Use a Sizzler Plate (2024)

Presentation of food is as important as the taste because the food that looks good is more appealing. This is the reason restaurants give a lot of thought on food presentation. To appeal senses they serve some dishes in sizzler plates. A tempting sizzling sound and smell greets you in dramatic way before the sizzlers served in that hot cast iron plate at the table.

For the same effect sizzler plates can be used at home to serve numerous vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Sizzler served in this isn’t a part of, but is a complete meal in itself. Size of sizzler plate should be big enough according to members because it has everything including your accompaniments, starters, gravy, and the main course. all depend on your imagination. A heavy cast iron sizzler plate with heat proof wooden support tray is best for use. It can retain heat for a longer time. Always buy a pre-seasoned sizzler plate. It saves lot of time of seasoning.

How to use:

1. Using a well seasoned cast iron sizzler plate is fairly simple process, but it adds a lot of special feel to any dish. You can just use it after wash with Luke warm water. But if it’s not pre-seasoned, you have to season it first.

2. Heat up the plate on low to medium flame for 8–10 minutes before the food is ready to serve or just smoking starting temperature. Don’t allow lot of smoke.

3. Mix 1 tea spoon water and one tea spoon oil in a bowl.

4. Always slightly undercook the dishes because they will continue to cook on hot plate.

5. Place the plate carefully in carrier wooden under liner or tray.

6. Grease the plate with some butter.

7. Gravy dish can be directly pour in the plate but for dry items dishes, first spread cabbage or lettuce leaves and then place the dish.

8. Sprinkle the water oil mixture on the sides of the plate to start sizzling. Serve immediately.

9. If you are making any dessert, chocolate syrup or caramel sauce will do the same trick to sizzle.

10. Caution: Handle carefully the hot sizzler plate. Don’t allow children to come near the plate.
