Anders serves as Vanderbilt University’s vice chancellor for investments and chief investment officer. He leads the Office of Investments, where he is responsible for managing the university’s $10 billion endowment. He came to Vanderbilt in September 2013 from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he worked at DUMAC, the university’s investment management company. As the head of public securities, he oversaw the public investments for the university’s endowment and pension plan, the health system’s long-term assets, and the family foundation. Prior to Duke, Anders was an investment consultant with Hewitt Investment Group in Rowayton, Connecticut, and Atlanta, Georgia, where he advised approximately 20 institutional clients. These clients included the New York Stock Exchange, Freddie Mac, and the University of Alabama System. He also spent three years in the Prudential Advanced Management Development Program, a selective leadership training program based in Newark, New Jersey. Anders, a chartered financial analyst, double-majored in public policy studies and economics at Duke University, where he earned a bachelor of arts in 1993. He earned an MBA from the New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he majored in finance and economics and graduated with high honors in 1999. Anders serves on the boards of the Greater Nashville Venture Capital Association, The Healing Trust, the Kharis Foundation, the Pi Kappa Phi Foundation, and Rock the Street Wall Street. Additionally, he serves on the advisory boards of FEG Investment Advisors and Managed Funds Association. He previously served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee, was a member of the governing board of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and co-chaired the Annual Fund at the University School of Nashville.
