Can I use expired Eagle Brand? ›

Sweetened condensed milk will go bad eventually, but it will last a good year beyond any printed date. Eagle Brand puts a "best by" date on their cans for 2 years beyond production, but the product is good beyond this date.

How do I store unused sweetened condensed milk? We recommend you store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It should keep in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

In 1874, Eagle Brand became the first registered trademark in the then-British colony of Hong Kong. In East Asian markets (excluding South Korea), Eagle Brand products are currently produced by Nestlé. The J.M. Smucker Company bought the canned milk business from Borden in 2007.

Most shelf-stable foods are safe indefinitely. In fact, canned goods will last for years, as long as the can itself is in good condition (no rust, dents, or swelling). Packaged foods (cereal, pasta, cookies) will be safe past the 'best by' date, although they may eventually become stale or develop an off flavor.

The brand was ultimately unprofitable for Anheuser-Busch, which sold the brand to Procter & Gamble in 1996. P&G acquired rights to the products and brand, but not the Anheuser-Busch logo originally used to market the brand. P&G licensed the brand to Chicago-based Reserve Brands Inc. in 2007.

The limited availability of raw ingredients and processing facilities has resulted in a shortage of sweetened condensed milk in the region. Additionally, the increased demand for the product has driven up its price, as manufacturers are unable to keep up with the demand.

1856. Gail Borden introduced Eagle Brand in 1856 to fight food poisoning and other illnesses related to lack of refrigeration and preservation techniques. His discovery provided milk that would remain safe and wholesome. The Civil War helped Eagle Brand become a household name.

Can I save leftover sweetened condensed milk? ›

First off, condensed milk stores like a dream. It will keep in the fridge for about a month, or even longer in the freezer. Just be sure to transfer the leftover liquid out of the can and into a jar or other sealed container first.
