Where do I find cryonic Ore? ›

Cryonic Ore is a Hardmode ore that generates in the Ice biome after Cryogen has been defeated.

Not to be confused with Frigid Bar, a removed crafting material that was dropped by Cryogen. Cryonic Bars are Hardmode bars that are made with 4 Cryonic Ore at a Hardmode Forge and are additionally dropped from the Fleshy and Necromantic Geode.

The Cryo Slime is a Hardmode slime that spawns in the Ice biome after Cryogen and two mechanical bosses have been defeated. It exists as an alternative way to obtain Cryonic Ore aside from mining it.

Cryogen does not spawn on its own and requires the player to summon it with a Cryo Key while in the Snow biome or Ice biome at any time.

Cryonic Ore is a Hardmode ore which generates in the Ice biome upon Cryogen's defeat. It is used to craft Cryonic Bars at an Adamantite Forge or Titanium Forge. It requires at least an Adamantite Pickaxe or Titanium Pickaxe to mine. It is also dropped by Cryo Slimes.

The Cryo Stone is a Hardmode accessory that is dropped by Cryogen. When equipped, it increases the damage of player-inflicted cold-based debuffs by 1.5x and grants the player a rotating ice shield identical to the one protecting Cryogen, that damages and slows down enemies on contact.

The Flarewing Bow is a good option against Cryogen, best used with Ichor Arrows. The Dart Pistol paired with Ichor Darts can grind Cryogen swiftly. The Butcher can deal massive damage to Cryogen, but it requires the user to charge up fully before it can reach its full potential.

Dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) is not a cryogen, but converts directly to carbon dioxide and can be hazardous if not handled properly. Cryogenics can evaporate into very large volumes of gas, which can displace oxygen and create an asphyxiation hazard.

Once Cryogen is defeated for the first time, Cryonic Ore spawns in the Ice biome. If at least two mechanical bosses have been defeated, Cryo Slimes will begin to spawn in the Cavern layer. The Archmage will begin to arrive if provided suitable housing.

A Picksaw or a pickaxe with higher power can mine it but only if Astrum Deus has been defeated. Additionally, after Astrum Deus' defeat, Astral Slimes will begin to drop Astral Ore. Similarly to how Hellstone inflicts Burning, Astral Ore inflicts the Astral Infection debuff on contact.
