Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly is tempting fate.

Kelly, the Diamondbacks starting pitcher in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series, said the crowd at Citizens Bank Park is loud, but he couldn't imagine it being louder than the United States-Venezuela World Baseball Classic game in Miami back in March.

Of course, Phillies fans will probably say, "Hold my beer, let me show you loud."When Philadelphia shortstop Trea Turner hit a first inning homer against Kelly, the crowd hit 108 decibels.

But really, how loud were Phillies fans during Game 1 of the World Series on Monday? According to Major League Baseball the fans at CBP were loud ... real loud.

All three Phillies homers topped 100 decibels, which is the equivalent of listening to a lawn mower or an MP3 player at full volume. The crowd noise after Harper's blast reached 111 decibels or the equivalent of a rock concert.

Yeah, Phillies fans are that loud.

Did Phillies fans set a record for loudest crowd noise?

While the Phillies were loud, it's not the loudest baseball game or loudest sporting event. While there are no official records for the loudest baseball crowd, it would be difficult to beat the 125 decibels fans created at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome during the 1987 World Series between the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals. That's the equivalent of a jet plane during take-off.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the loudest crowd roar at a stadium was at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 29, 2014. The Chiefs fans hit 142.2 decibels during a game against New England. That's the equivalent of fireworks or a gunshot.

On the good side for Philadelphia, we're not even at the World Series. It could get louder.
