Some things are hard to believe and disbelief was the first thing that crossed our minds when we read that Brach’s Butterscotch Disks are being discontinued. We thought it might be a typographical error and then checked the prescription in our reading glasses.
After a few phone calls and emails, we realized this was not “fake news,” and that this beloved candy was soon to enter the realm of memory. Being one, if not THE oldest wholesale candy distributors of Brach’s Candy, we were heartbroken but, sadly, have seen this happen all too many times before.
Many years ago, the first product we offered on the internet, Ice Blue Mint Coolers, was discontinued, and many candy lovers’ hearts shattered. We still can’t understand their decision as demand was so high, and requests for this long discontinued candy still arrive daily.
Cherry Twisters disappeared as did Special Treasures Butter Toffee. Brach’s Neapolitans suffered a similar fate. These were candies our grandparents grew up with and shared with later generations, and products such as Dem Bones were teaching tools used for learning. These candies were delicious, historic, iconic, and Brachs was a brand as “All American” as Apple Pie.
Brach’s Malts are no longer produced and 2019 was the first holiday season we didn’t offer a variation of Brach’s Villa Cherries, aka Cherry Cordials, and now Butterscotch Disks are slated for extinction. It’s sad and NOT a sign of progress in the right direction. Could this be the end of a candy era?
Please share your thoughts about your favorite Brach’s Candies and we will forward this to their marketing department. It may not bring about change but it will undoubtedly preserve sweet memories.

My wife has dry mouth due to Sjogren’s Syndrome. She has found that Brach’s Butterscotch Disks give relief without the high cost of prescription or dry mouth specific products. After the last shipment, she will have to start a hunt for a substitute.

Thanks for sharing! The manufacturer will still continue to make them but they won’t be branded anymore. Hopefully, they will taste the same! This is really very sad. These were my absolute favorites. They were what I went to when I stopped smoking. These candies would also calm my sweet craving and were the lessor of the candy evils. I really wish they would bring these back. Heartbroken…

The butterscotch discs are my all time favorite. I’ve tried other generic brands and they are just ok, I haven’t found one yet that has that same Brachs buttery flavor. If they are simply being rebranded then fine, but people should be informed on what to look for when purchasing.

I bought 2 bags from different makers.
There is absolutely no comparison to the taste.
My grandchildren ate the ones I had bought,
they did not like them..

I have dry mouth syndrome and my favorite Candy was your Butterscotch Discs were my favorite way to make it go away for awhile. Please reconsider and grant them a repeal. We could see if they could be given a Pardon !

Brach’s Butterscotch hard candy has been my lifelong favorite and I’m not alone with my feelings about it nor am I alone in the thought that it should always remain to be made and sold by Brach’s

I have Love, Love, Looooved the butterscotch candies since I was a little girl. I have severe dry mouth due to medications I take and sucking on candy helps. I have had a hard time finding them where I live because either the stores don’t carry Brachs at all or they only carry the sugar-free candies. I don’t like the flavor of the sugar-free. I finally found them on Amazon after Years of searching and now they are going to be discontinued. I am more than heartbroken, I am Devistated. Brachs Butterscotch Candies were my Dad’s favorite candy. He passed away in 2017. They were something we always shared.

I am a professional singer and the Brach’s butterscotch candies are the only things that soothe my throat. Please please please keep making them! The knockoffs are not even near the same!

I love, love, love Brach’s original Butterscotch candy. I can only find the sugar-free kind though.
Brach’s, If I’m splurging with candy, I want old fashioned, Full sugar, full fat, luscious flavored Butterscotch candies.
I don’t begrudge those who must have no sugar, but I hate sugar-free Anything!
Their candy is NOT cheap by a long shot but…..I didn’t mind paying extra because they had the absolute Best Butterscotch candy.
I am so Incredibly Disappointed with the company’s decision to discontinue their Original Butterscotch candy.
Shame on you Brach’s!

It seems to be the trend with Brachs these days. In the past five years, over 75 percent of their products have been discontinued.

I am devastated to hear this!! Can’t understand why. Brachs butterscotch discs are the best! My grandmother had them in her candy dish- I got her dish when she passed away and have kept the tradition. Who decided a that a candy won’t be continued and why? So so so sad.

We will certainly pass on your words to the manufacturer. We were once the oldest distributor of Brach’s candies in the nation and now we have been reduced to three or four items. It is truly sad watching the demise of one of the great American candy brands!

Heartbroken that Brachs Butterscotch Disks are being discontinued. I have tried other candy manufacture’s butterscotch hard candy, and they just cannot compare.
Holding on to hope that Brachs will reconsider!

So so sad!!! These are the candies my grandma always had in her house and I have had in mine in the candy dish she gave me. Many of them haven’t been the same since the US factory closed. I wish some company would pick up the original recipe and make them.

No way, my husband only uses this brand and it helps his throat and cough, please reconsider to make them again. We are in our 80’s and they have been a God send for us. The other ones are terrible and not as good as yours. Somebody please start making them again, or steal the ingredients on how to make the best butterscotch candy ever made. We have used them our whole life.

My husband just bought a bag of “mixed” hard candy that included “Brach’s butterscotch” after I told him they were my favorite and I couldn’t find them anymore. My poor husbands face, so excited to show me what he found, only to see my face fall when I realized it was too good to be true. These are not the original recipe formula and the flavor doesn’t come close. It’s a bit hard for someone like my husband to comprehend “butterscotch is butterscotch, right?” Nope. Not in this case. If this is Ferrara’s “formula without the branding” it sucks and they shouldn’t even bother. Makes me wonder if they just aren’t really cut out to be confectioners at all.

Please consider bringing the butterscotch candy back. This is a true classic candy, and this recipe is what makes it so special. I have yet to come across another butterscotch flavored candy that compares to the Brachs one.

I’ve been looking for Brachs brand butterscotch candies for awhile and now I know why I can’t find them. Say it isn’t so. The no brand butterscotches are no good. I won’t by those. Please bring them back and while I’m begging I might as well ask for the Neopolitans too. LOVED them as well.

I have been searching stores for Brachs malt balls and butterscotch disks which are my absolute favorite. I do not like the “off brands “ which are other companies copies. I was disappointed that the chocolate marshmallow Santa’s and bunnies aren’t available anymore either. At least for now you’re still making the fiesta eggs for Easter (but they are hard to find) please please bring back these candies that we loved for so long. I always like the mix and match.

Butterscotch discs were a favorite candy handed down from three generations in our family.
My grandmother always had butterscotch discs when we visited her. She had them in a special candy jar. I won’t put another candy in it now.
It’s empty and patiently waiting for them to return.

I’m shocked!!!! Those of us who are not young, rely on things like Brachs candies. If you feel that Those of us that bought your candies over the years, and made you the money that you made, are not important, than so be it. I can tell you that we won’t be buying the other companies candies… just isn’t right that the all mighty dollar is way better than the rest of us.

We don’t disagree. We were once the oldest Brach’s candy distributor having offered their brand since the late 1920’s. Today, we have about three products to sell as they have, literally, gotten rid of their entire product line. Sad, very sad…..

The closest thing I have found to Brach’s Butterscotch is Life Savers’ Butter Rum Candy. It’s definitely not as luxurious as Brach’s, but they are very good. Last time I checked they were sold in bags and by the roll (Life Savers roll). I also heard Reed’s (maker of the famous old-fashioned root beer candies) makes a Butterscotch candy, but have not been able to find it in my area.
